Step inside one of Waterloo’s most iconic corporate campuses for an exclusive behind-the-scenes facility tour and networking event hosted by IFMA Greater Toronto & South Central Ontario.

Located at 227 King Street South, this distinctive single-tenant campus brings together more than a century of architectural history and workplace evolution. The original Mutual Life building was constructed in 1912, with subsequent additions and upgrades continuing through 1987. The original building was designed by Darling and Pearson, while Walter Fedy completed many of the campus’s later expansions.

After Sun Life acquired Mutual Life circa 2003, the property became Sun Life’s Canadian Headquarters. Since then, the campus has undergone significant workplace transformations, including a major interior overhaul following the acquisition and another aesthetic update completed earlier this year.

During this chronological tour, you’ll explore how the facility has evolved across generations—from its historic heritage spaces to contemporary work environments designed for today’s workforce. Along the way, you’ll learn how the campus has expanded and adapted while preserving its architectural and cultural significance.

Following the tour, continue the conversation during a networking reception with food and refreshments provided. This event is open to IFMA members and non-members, facility management professionals, young professionals, students and industry partners.
