The Health Care sector across Canada contends with aging infrastructure, leading to increased risks of failures in critical systems such as power, water supply, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). This presentation aims to explore the importance of developing comprehensive risk management plans to address these vulnerabilities and how contingency planning for asset failure can ensure minimal disruption to patient care and operations. The session will guide participants through the steps involved in creating an innovative risk management plan, including conducting infrastructure assessments and implementing effective asset management strategies. As well, how to develop and implement contingency plans for potential infrastructure failures, focusing on emergency protocols, staff training, and patient  care considerations.  By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with actionable solutions to enhance their risk management plans, effectively mitigate risks, and address potential failures should they arise.
